Consoleation 2.0: Unlimited Continues
One man's take on console gaming, with a decidedly opinionated spin…

It’s baaaaaack!

After an experiment in podcasting and the unfortunate demise of my PC, Consoleation is back online and will be updated regularly. It’s been a bit of a process getting things back in order, and my duties at GamePlasma have kept me busy… but I miss posting blogs, which are really the best way for me to express my opinions and views in a completely raw format.

As for what’s going on in terms of gaming, I am the proud owner of a new Nintendo DS… and the timing couldn’t be more perfect with the impending release of Final Fantasy IV due later this month and with the recent announcement of a port of Chrono Trigger sometime early next year. Honestly, I’m having more fun with the DS than I did with the PSP; you have to wonder if the singular focus on video gaming is what drives the little machine.

I’m working my way through Trauma Center 2 and will be working on a review early this week. Other than that, I’ve been playing Space Invaders Extreme and Arkanoid DS a lot lately… as well as (re)playing through both Castlevania offerings on the DS.

On the PS3, I just recently finished up Metal Gear Solid 4 and loved it. Say what you will about the lengthy cutscenes and long-winded story… but I ate it up. It’s a visual tour-de-force and is to the Metal Gear franchise what Kingdom Hearts and Super Smash Bros. are for Square-Enix and Nintendo: fan service to the hilt. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Soul Calibur IV towards the end of the month, and then Madden NFL 09 hits in August… and, although I suck at it, I’m a sucker for playing the game every year.

That’s about it from here. I’m glad to be back, and I hope that you’ll start reading again. Don’t forget to check out my blogroll for some awesome gaming sites aside from this one.
